This is the plan:
Depart Toronto on February 13th at 10:55 p.m. to Istanbul.  Short (3 1/2hr) layover and then on to Delhi, India.  Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) at 5:05 a.m. on February 15th. My driver will meet me and take me directly to the hotel I have booked for the 15th and 16th.
I expect that it will be about 8:00 a.m. before we reach the hotel which will be much too early for the room to be ready, so what to do after the check in.
The weather underground site tells me that temperatures, that week in 2012, ranged from a night/morning low of 7 to a daytime high of 23.
It will be too cold to sit in the garden and have a chai and chat, so inside it will be.  I want to have a few hours with my new travel partner/driver in order for us to get acquainted, after all, we will be travelling together for the next six weeks!   No sight seeing today. My task for this day will be to stay awake until at least 7:00 p.m., no naps.

Indian Visa

The courier was here at noon today.  The time had come to open the courier company packaging, then the smaller envelope containing my passport........heart beating faster....then to open my passport to see if there was a visa there.  YES YES YES

It's official.  I am off to India.   Yippee!!!  Stay tuned.

OMG, I submitted my visa application, but I made a huge error by clicking on a wrong thing.  I am sitting and waiting (biting my nails) in anticipation of actually getting my visa.  I am so distraught right now. There may not be an Incredible India adventure.......

Visa Time

The Indian government does not make the visa application user friendly.  In fact, this has been the most nerve wracking visa process ever, for me (including Iran).  I now have completed and sent the mandatory online application, downloaded, printed and signed a hard copy.  I think I have attached, signed, etc. all the other required paperwork too.

On Monday I will courier the whole shebang to VFS for processing.  It is so funny to me, but India has outsourced their visa business.   After many many calls to VFS to clarify things,  I hope I have not made any errors.

I will track the process online, and hope to receive my passport back(visa attached) by January 18th.

All fingers and toes crossed for the next week or so, please.
