It's almost 8pm on Monday, February 25th in Udaipur.  As I sit here at the roof top restaurant of my hotel I can hear the music from the Hindu Temple a few doors down.  The above is a short video clip.

I spent a good four hours walking today.  The City Palace is literally a stone's throw from my hotel.  The Lake Palace is directly across from the City Palace.....can you imagine that.

Back in the day, the Maharaja's had such power and wealth enabling them to live in grand style.  There were/are Maharajas/Royal Families in Udaipur, Jaipur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur here in Rajasthan, India.  After independence much of their means of income was stripped.  After many years of belt tightening some, if not all,  have given over parts of their palaces to the Taj chain of hotels, but retain more than enough for the royal families private quarters.  The Lake Palace Hotel here in Udaipur is expensive.  Rooms run from $3000.00-11,000.00 per night (if I recall correctly) and that is why I am staying close by.  I do have a lovely view of the City Palace and as soon as the sun sets I will take some night shots.
