Jodhpur
This is my hotel.  It is a basic Indian hotel, no tourists here.  It is clean, although the walls could use a wash or paint job.  The staff are very helpful and there is in room wifi. They have a restaurant on the 3rd floor, but stairs are not my friends, so I opt to have room service.
I woke at 5 am today and updated this blog, then promptly went back to sleep and did not wake until about 11 am.  After breakfast and a shower we went into the old town.

Wait a minute, I think I forgot to say that Lakhu and I went into town last night for dinner at On The Rocks.  It is a great place with excellent ambience and food to match.  I did take a few shots, but they just didn't turn out.

As soon as we reached the market area.....bam bam bam.....all the noise, people, and vehicles come crashing on you.

This area is below the fort which is very visible. More on the fort tomorrow.

You enter the market at the clock tower, but just before that Lakhu almost insisted that I go to M.V. Spices.  He said that they are extremely well known for the quality of their spices.

Well, what a delightful little shop.  No one is calling and beckoning you in.  This shop is run by Kavita.  She took so much time to show me, explain, let me smell and taste spices.  I had a cup of masala chai without milk, and then later a cup of a special tea made w,ith Darjeeling black tea, cardamom, and saffron. Both were delightful.

Kavita explained to me that her father had a small shop years ago and began to add spices to his shop.  He wanted to be a doctor, but was a shopkeeper and this was his way to bring health giving properties to the people.  He is gone now, but this photo of him hangs in the shop.  Her father wanted seven spice shops for his seven daughters, but they have four and she says that is plenty and they have no intentions of opening more.  Do stop in, if you are in Jodhpur.  For more information on M.V. Spices click here http://www.mvspices.com/about.php

Kavita is studying for her B.Commerce and is in her last year.
